Cherry Creek (Roosevelt East) 02/10/2007
Ride 75 ATV Adventure Page 2
Most people refer to this as the "Cherry Creek" area, but in Arizona we have many Cherry Creeks. This is the far South-East end of Roosevelt Lake.

Just so we all understand, we had no idea where we were going. We seen this area on the map. I heard a few life and death stories about this area. Everyone failed to give us any credible information about the area. Using our “male dead reckoning” skills, we where able to leave our homes at different times, travel about 100 mile and arrive at an unknown and unspecified staging area within minutes of each other. OK, it was a lot of luck !
The initial road in “Cherry Creek Rd.” was smooth and scenic. The other 4 riders shown, my wife Connie , Kate, Jim and Glenn. Although this was a pretty main road it seem almost no one ever goes here and we had very little traffic, maybe 3 cars all day. The scenery was dramatically different as you enter the actual creek areas. I always enjoy looking at the sheer rock wall close up. The dense undergrowth always is a welcome change from that dry desert look .
I’m glad we all have radios she drove right by me !
The massive size of some of these mountain is just hard to photograph but it’s always fun trying.
When I was examining this photo I thought I seem some marks or unexplained flaws in the photo. As I zoomed in it was just some really big hawks or eagles, or some kind of bird ???
Those big wide smooth roads slowly shrink down to ATV/small jeep roads. We went in as far as time would let us and headed back looking at some of the side trail.
This area at some places has wonderful stands of saguaro cacti.
The picture below summarizes what this was all about,,, just kicking back !
