Ride 92 ATV Adventure Page 20
Pivot Rock West- Bear Canyon 9/28/2007
If you have looked at the other rides you would have noticed that we really worked over the area at Pivot Rock . As I was studying the map I noticed that we over looked the area west of Pivot Rock and the south side of the canyon. I guess the camping season is over and the place is vacant, we ever parked at our favorite spot. It was a nice 71 degrees as we arrived.
Summer is over !
The one thing about this area is the spectacular roads and trails.
These are just a few shots from the ATV as we rode along the canyon edge.
Rock formations and in general just showing what a great place this would be to hike around.
Un-smushed pinecones,,, is a sure sign that almost no vehicle traffic comes down this road.
It looks like we are going to cover a lot less area than we planned. The side roads off the side roads are holding us in this area a lot longer than expected. These are great!
We are really in far. The chances of seeing anyone else today is ‘slim to none” and that is just fine with me ! Most of the roads were 4X4 truck roads at one time. The forest has reclaimed them down to ATV roads in many places.
We found many more access points to the canyon. This wasn’t by accident this was our plan to take every road to the canyon.
We just got too distracted riding and forgot to eat so we had a late lunch on the way back. On the map I noticed that one section of the canyon was called BEAR Canyon. Ask my wife why ! LOL . So we find this swell place to eat, very remote, nice trees, just beautiful ! As my wife is unpacking our lunch she looks up and sees a big BEAR running away from us. It scared the heck out of her (not me, I’m brave). I guess we pulled in at a spot a bear though was pretty good too. We didn’t even see him.
WOW ! All day and we just covered a small section of the planned ride. This was a very relaxed non-adventure EXCEPT FOR THE BEAR ! It sure is funny how all at once no one is in the woods. I guess these Arizona people just don’t own sweaters LOL . In a few months we will have pictures in the snow again. Next week we will continue in this area (maybe).
