The new Sheep Bridge. It’s a very interesting structure for a small suspension bridge.
For those of you thinking about riding your quad over the bridge- DON’T. The other side is wilderness, No Vehicles ! My ATV is a small Honda Recon, they don’t get any narrower . As you can see I sized mine up just for laughs. I could clear by less than an inch. My wife’s 200cc Polaris will not fit. Now what if the bridge gets a little narrower in the center from expansion and contraction or the stress and distortion of the metal ? So I go across 'almost' and get stuck ? Then I would be on the news? That would be funny but bad press for ATVs and possibly a fine. So don’t try it.
These would be really good pictures if we didn’t have helmet hair from 3 hours of riding. LOL It was nice and the wife really liked the bridge. This was the 1st time she was ever at anything like this.
Monument with historical information about the original bridge.
Pictures with sheep !
You know this was a good practice engineering project. I’ll bet it was a once in a lifetime opportunity, design through construction.
It was a real nice touch leaving part of the old bridge up and the pictures on the monument. We played around in this area for awhile and then figured out that we better start back while we have a few hours of daylight. I have the GPS set to give me the current time and sunset time at our exact location. This simple information sure helps with planning and prevents surprises.
Looks like we got sufficient rain this year to green up that vegetation . Tangle Creek has more water in it than it looks from a distance. I think I see a side trip !
This may not have been a hardcore ATV trip, but it was a nice trip. Notice the wife is smiling.
This wasn’t a good Ride #100 , this was a GREAT Ride #100. Beautiful weather, great views, water crossings, creek side trails, the wife made it to the bridge, I wasn’t sitting on the couch, it was a perfect day ! Look on the index page for my what did I learn in 100 rides.
