Ride 104 ATV Adventure Page 33
I said it before “I’m running out of places to go. LOL ,,, Not really, many places I have just made a cursory look at. After studying the map we determined that the are around Long Lake Road we had not looked at very good. Yes, we went to the lake and did a small ride around the area but we need to look at it better especially the area around Lake Mary rd. We got a good early start and I know we were riding before 10 AM .. We were able to grab the same parking/camping spot we had the last time we came up. We are still doing a shake down on the new trailer.

Long Lake Road (Area) June 14, 2008
See , one of the small benefits to riding slower. I spotted this tree burned out from the inside. I never seen one as complete as this. I should have brought the good camera. I’m sure I could have gotten some weird pictures shooting up the burnout.
This area has some nice roads (level 1) just to ride on and soak up the forest. We had no sign or any trucks or cars in the area and seen almost no one camping anywhere.
The 1st forest road we tried ended at a really nice pasture/meadow area . I guess if I were tent camping this would be a jackpot. Lots of nice grass and the cows are on the other side of the ditch with no easy way to get to our side. Does look like they had some fast moving water through here.
The roads were for the most part great for just slow cru-zing. As you can see the wife has a dust cloud behind her and I guarantee you she isn’t going 10 MPH. The forest got lots of rain this winter but hasn’t had any rain for a month or more. We will all be glad when the every afternoon rain season gets here.
It was about that time of the day that we thought we would check and see if Scotty got his parents out riding.

Funny no matter how obscure the directions I give them they always drive right to the spot. I think it’s that guy “dead reckoning” talent we have LOL or his wife tells him where to turn.

He needed to take this little trip to shake down his new trailer and check out his ATVs before his big Colorado trip. Although it’s past noon the days are long and we have lot’s of hours to ride.
Those cows we seen earlier are a good indication that this is cattle grazing area. We found this tank up on a small hill with an access road to it. I guess a truck could fill the tank with water. In the pasture was a drinker I guess they trickled the water to it when needed.
Road from Hell !,,, Ok we found this road and as we went down it, it got progressively worse. Looking at the GPS and map I could tell we were about ½ way. The thinking was that it would get better as we approached the other end - WRONG. This was just a bunch of miserable rocks that went mile after mile. We did find this nice pond and took a few pictures of it to try and cover the scar in our brains. Sometimes you just need to turn around and sometimes just around the corner it is great ??? I’m sure no one else has seen this pond in a long time.
On the way back to the truck we passed this old coral area . I’m sure it is still used but it’s roots go back many years. Nice that no one vandalized it.
This area had some nice family places to ride (except for 1 road). Possibly, with the price of gas less people are out riding, camping, picnicking., whatever we had the place to ourselves. And as you can see in the picture below , we made full use of any remaining sunlight.
Notice: For anyone that check this site on a regular basis. I will be unable to ride for possible 2 months due to some pending surgery. No big deal I’ll be back at it the 1st of September at the latest,,,,,, Thanks
