On our past visit to Gooseberry Springs we had a great time. The only person that we talked to were two good-old-boy hunters and they mentioned “Hutch Mountain”. Someone mention a place I haven’t been to ????,,, Can’t have that. Seems like a good excuse to come back again. After studying the map it sure looks like there is a fire tower on top ! I just love those towers.

(Left) The forest roads to sneak down to Hutch Mountain were just awesome.
Bargaman Park ? I never heard of it. I’ll bet this is going to be great.
The lookout tower was at a great location at over 8500 feet. The tower itself is a shorter tower and would be a great tower for 1st timers. It has the wood steps and floor common to older towers in the Coconino Forest system.
(Left) Jim the Forest Lookout. He reminds me of a kid in his tree-house, but he is a trained professional. (Right) Hard to believe but my wife likes going up in the towers.
The tower may be short but the location makes up for it. It still looks a long way down to the ATVs
(Left) One of the few places my cell phone would work. “Hello Scotties father,,, got that kid out riding?,,, your still in Rye !!!! ,,, We have been riding for over 2 hours” LOL
Bargaman Park is one big looser. No facilities, no establish camping areas, no creek, no water? I guess it would be a good place to catch butterflies or something?
The park sucked but I would have not found these great forest roads.
I just love these aspen treed areas. The weather was so nice, and the grass was so plush even back between the trees. I took a short walk in the trees, it was great.
I just don’t know if I have ever seen so many ATV roads. Most of these roads would be difficult to navigate with a truck but just perfect for ATV’s.
Strange geological formation. It was like sandstone that didn’t quite make it to stone but is a lot harder than sand.
It looks like a few feet of soil form the forest floor and under that is this sand. Look at strange shapes caused by the wind. I need to come back and explore this area of the forest. Sounds like a good excuse to come back to me!
