It’s been over 2 months since I have ridden. It’s time to get back into the saddle. We wanted something that was not going to be physically challenging for my 1st outing. We had seen a turnoff just before the Clintswell junction, but on the wrong side of the road? Is there a wrong side of the road? Anyway, it was between two areas that we had ridden before but still new roads for us.
After a short ride we found some great secondary roads,,,,, but then the sign ?
This is not off-roading?
This is a well established, numbered road and I find no reason to close it. It’s time for Arizona to take back the forest from those idiots in Washington.
The one thing I can tell you is the forest is green. The ground humidity is way up so the roads are giving off very little dust.
How is this for dense green forest,, WOW! (Right)We came across an area that had giant Blue Spruce. I think I found my Christmas Tree.
Seems like we haven’t seen anyone for hours. For the most part, people are afraid to use the forest. The rules are so confusing to most people and the posted maps truly suck.
Many of the (numbered) side roads have narrowed considerably with the new growth of trees. It’s amazing to see this much new growth. This looks like a great place to take a short rest.
What have we here ? Looks like someone wasn’t happy with a Forest Service sign.
I’ll bet the sign said “Welcome All”
Anyone that goes near the Rim must go to the Rim, it’s the law. I think Woodsy the Owl told me so. We found a nice place for lunch, very isolated and hard to get to (unless you have an ATV). The view from the Rim was as always,,,, “spectacular”.
This was a great place to kick back. It’s hard to believe how big the drop is just over the edge. If you haven’t driven down Forest Road 300 you need to, and bring your camera !
Looping around on the way back, the wife insisted that we go to Jones Crossing. She thought it was going to be a real destination seeing that the sign off the main road said “To Jones Crossing”.
I have been here before but why not let her be disappointed too. She now thinks this could be worse than Potato Lake,, but I disagree.

This was a slower pace than normal but what can I say ,,,, except “I wasn’t sitting around on the couch doing nothing”. LOL The temperature was great. I don’t remember being hot or cool just perfect. This was a good ride to get back at it, and I did.
(Below) Wife is very happy we got out.
