4 Peaks Feb. 5th 2009
Holy Crap-ola the front side of 4 Peaks ! ,,, That’s for nut cases and speed freaks, not for us extreme low pressure types. Lets see , 4-Peaks is very close to my house, it’s Thursday, the wife has not been to 4-Peaks since she had a 110cc Honda ATC. (Yes an ATC, like 25 years ago.) I wouldn’t even think about 4-Peaks on a weekend, maybe not even on a Friday. I guess if the wife is ever going to do that road,,,,, today is the best chance.

Thank goodness we were the only ones in the parking lot and not a sign of anyone else around.
This is why they love this road , hard surface, loose marbles on top. If you have a 400cc+ fire breathing ATV this is the road. Almost all turns can be done in a 45 degree power-slide. I remember when I was younger…………..
Forgetting the road racing aspect of this area, the views are great. Within just a few miles you climb up in altitude. I think I can see my house !
There are usually 3 small water crossings but for some reason only 1 had any water in it. As you can see most of this ride is on standard dirt roads , all level 1 (Easy). The only danger would be someone enjoying the road a little too much and slamming into you.
We are now high enough that we are looking over the foothills and getting closer to the snow. Most likely, there will be little to no snow on the ground except for the north facing higher peaks.
Remember when you go to 4-Peaks there is an area marked “Horse Trailer Parking”, I have never seen a horse trailer there but this is the best view.
Everyone goes here to the trailhead, so I felt obligated to take this picture.
There are a few side roads to explore but nothing to exciting.

(Below) unusual rock formations. It looks like someone inlayed the rock with brick stripes.
If you pay attention to the surroundings, this is a great place to photograph.
This area also has many field of those strange stacked rocks. These make me wonder how it was formed and how long it has balanced there.

(Below) I spotted this rock suspend in midair, makes me want to climb up and screw with it. It’s calling me …. Paul ,,,,,, Paul ,,,,,, come up and get hurt !
This was a great place to ride, and it was close. I would not recommend this ride unless it was on a weekday or if you are a go fast guy. If you have the urge to go to the top consider the back side from Punkin Center. In the old ATC days we would go up the front and down the back, Punkin Center for lunch and back over the top.
