Red Creek (Middle Red Creek) 2/19/2010
The road going in is easily passable with any car but very wash-boarded so it’s not very pleasant to drive on. The 1st good spot to stage at is Bronco Trail horse riding area. I don’t think I have ever seen anyone here. The sooner we get on the ATVs the better. Our goal is to make it to Red Creek and hit all the side roads we can.

It looked like oil on the water but was actually ice crystals. The temperature here is still dipping way down at night.
Many of the roads here are what I call rollers. You can roll along at a good speed.
I like the water crossing. I almost got all the mud off my ATV from the last few rides. LOL
Finally down the hill to Red Creek. Not dangerous just annoying.
I wonder why they call it Red Creek ?

Back in this area is just a small slice of paradise.
This area has a lot of bottom land near the creek. Most of the roads/ trails are passable with a high clearance vehicle.
With not much trouble we were able to locate a bunch of side roads. Judging by the wet dirt and absence of any tire tracks I would have to assume these are seldom traveled. We spotted a few great camping spots.

Note: The undergrowth is thick in many spots.

Also note that large cat tracks can be seen in most of these areas.
Besides the low-lands near the creek, this area offers dramatic views and roads that are very pleasant to roll along on. This is a great place to just ride around without any clear direction. No matter what you see it will be better than sitting home.
Unsolicited Message
Whenever you are out away from civilization I find it important to always carry a visible side arm. Not everyone you meet out in the forest has good intentions. Sometimes people are overly friendly to size you up. It’s a balancing act to be friendly to strangers but also for anyone sizing you up to catch the subliminal scent of Imminent Death!
Animal s are another story . Most avoid people but larger predators, bears, mountain lions, wolf, coyotes may stalk smaller children or your dogs. All animals, even smaller animals like raccoons can be very dangerous if they are sick or have rabies.
